At Soco Studio, we’re required by law to collect state sales tax on our reusable period products because they are classified as tangible personal goods. While many states have begun to exempt certain menstrual products from sales tax, these exemptions often apply only to disposable items like tampons or pads and do not yet extend to reusable cloth pads.
Since reusable pads/period products are designed to last for years, they fall under the category of personal property rather than single-use health products. While we’d love for lawmakers to recognize the eco-friendly and essential nature of reusables, until then we must comply with state regulations.
As a handmade, small-batch brand, we follow all state tax regulations to remain compliant, ensuring that every order is properly accounted for. We know taxes aren’t anyone’s favorite, but they’re a necessary part of doing business—and they help us keep creating high-quality, eco-friendly products for you.
